UNCP pausing J&J at vaccine clinics, requesting Pfizer

Following the FDA, CDC and NC DHHS statements earlier this week regarding the pause on the distribution of the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine, UNC Pembroke will no longer be offering this vaccine. According to the CDC and FDA, there is no evidence that similar medical issues exist with Pfizer or Moderna vaccines and there is no recommendation to pause the administration of these. As such, UNCP is requesting a replacement allocation of the Pfizer vaccine for use at the on-campus clinic.

UNCP plans to resume the on-campus vaccine clinics next Thursday, Friday and Monday, pending approval of the vaccine allocation request. More information on registration will be available following confirmation of request approval.

Because Pfizer requires a second dose and for your convenience, students will be able to have their second dose administered at an alternate provider if necessary.

If you have already had the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and are experiencing any adverse reactions, please contact Student Health Services at 910.521.6219 or the 24-hour nurse triage line after hours at 1.888.267.3675. For medical emergencies, please call 911 or campus police at 910.521.6235. For more information on the J&J vaccine pause and associated reactions, please visit the links below:
