For the fifth straight year UNC Pembroke was included in Military Times’ ‘Best for Vets’ college ranking.

Military Times recently unveiled its Best for Vets: Colleges 2019 rankings. In their ninth year, the rankings are based on the results of Military Times’ annual survey – the most comprehensive school-by-school assessment of veteran and military student services and rates of academic achievement – as well as a detailed review of public data collected by federal agencies.

“Many believe these type designations are easily attained. That’s not true. You can see that fewer than half of the universities that compete for this 'Best for Vets' recognition make the list,” said Mike Clawson, director of Academic and Military Outreach at UNCP.

“Of the universities that do make it, UNCP is one of them – a fact of which we all should be proud.”

The fact that UNCP has been recognized five straight years as ‘Best for Vet’ displays the university’s pledge at every level – from the chancellor, cabinet, faculty and staff – to support our military, Clawson said.

“Making the Military Times Best for Vets Colleges again, reveals UNCP’s continuous support and commitment to improve efforts when and where needed for our veterans and their families.”

There were 1,114 military-affiliated students enrolled this fall, including active duty, veterans, National Guard, Reservists and dependents.

Future plans for UNCP’s Academic and Military Outreach (AMO) will only further develop and enhance our service and support as well, according to Clawson. Within the next 10 months UNCP will open the doors to a Veterans Resource Center to be named “Rally Point” and the VA Certifying Official will be co-located with AMO to provide more effective and efficient service to our military-affiliated students.
