John Roe (Biology) was guest speaker at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Science in Whiteville, NC, on March 17th.  As part of the “Meet Me at the Museum” series, he presented survival strategies used by box turtles.  His ongoing research involves employing radio transmitters to track the turtles' movements within Weymouth Woods and Lumber River state parks. His work demonstrates the turtles have adapted new survival strategies in response to controlled burns in the parks.

John Roe’s talk was featured on the front page of the (Whiteville) New Reporter on Monday March 26th.

This is but one example of the outstanding outreach conducted by UNCP faculty.
