In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, UNC Pembroke is spotlighting Enyalee Goveo, class of 2022. Goveo is a senior exercise sports science and physiology major from Hope Mills.

She is currently a resident advisor for Housing and Residence Life and has worked on campus since her freshman year. Goveo is active on campus as a member of the Hispanic Heritage and LGBTQIA+ committees, the Health Career Access Program (HCAP) as well as the Greener Coalition.

She’s on the Dean’s List and a recipient of the Academic Enhancement and Silver Scholar awards. Her career goal is to become a traveling physical therapist.

“I want to work in a field with people who are passionate and enjoy physical activity and the capabilities of the body as much as myself,” she said.

“I went through physical therapy for an ACL tear and became well acquainted with the emotions and eagerness to return to the activities that one loves. I appreciated the physical therapists who assisted me for the purpose of my healing, but more so for the motivation and encouragement they offered through my process and helping me to regain confidence within myself.

“I want to provide that influence and motivation to others throughout their processes no matter what they entail,” Goveo added.
