The Career Center at UNC Pembroke is offering a workshop on Wednesday, March 1, to provide the resources to help students maximize their internship experience.
Internship workshops and career fairs are among the wide range of opportunities offered through the Career Center to students needing assistance selecting the right major, exploring career fields, applying for internships, preparing for an interview or networking with employers.
Junior mass communication major Shelby Perry landed a marketing and public relations summer internship with North Carolina State Parks after connecting with a job recruiter at a recent UNCP career fair. Perry will be assisting social media and a variety of public relations initiatives.
“There is power in having connections and networking,” Perry said. “The workforce is very competitive, so students must explore career options and gain work experience before graduating college. The Career Center is a great place to go if students want to practice their interviewing skills or create a career plan for their future.”
The Career Center offers several upcoming in-person and virtual events to fit the needs of every student and alumni.
- 3/1 – How To Make the Most of Your Internship. In-person and virtual options. Presented by NC Electric Cooperative’s Lauren Liles.
- 3/13 - Education Recruiting Event. In person only.
- 3/25 – Truist Leadership Institute. Virtual only – RSVP is required, and seats are limited.
