Cape Fear Community College recently signed an articulation agreement with The University of North Carolina at Pembroke to provide a pathway for CFCC’s Criminal Justice Technology students to further their education in the criminal justice field.

The articulation agreement makes it possible for students who successfully complete the required hours for the Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice Technology at CFCC to transfer their credits to UNCP’s Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice program.

The Criminal Justice program at UNC Pembroke provides students with a thorough understanding of the criminal justice system's social organization and administration. Courses are offered in crime and delinquency theories, law enforcement, the courts, corrections, and administration. Offered entirely online, the baccalaureate degree program presents CFCC students a flexible and affordable opportunity to advance their earned associate degree.

“This articulation agreement with The University of North Carolina at Pembroke is a great opportunity for our Criminal Justice Technology graduates," said CFCC Dean of Career and Technical Education Mark Council. “Not only is UNC Pembroke one of the most affordable four-year public universities in North Carolina, but the Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice degree is also 100% online.”

“It is exciting to have this great partnership with UNC Pembroke to benefit students seeking to further their education,” said CFCC Program Director of Criminal Justice Technology Justin Ovaska. “There is a need for more educated professionals in the criminal justice field, and UNC Pembroke provides a well-respected program for CFCC graduates to transfer to and continue their studies – further preparing them for successful careers.”

“CFCC actively pursues partnerships that help our students expand their career options,” said CFCC President Jim Morton. “UNC Pembroke is a terrific transfer option for our graduates. This partnership provides a strong framework for our students as they work toward their ultimate educational goals.”
