Caleb Malcolm

Caleb A. Malcolm currently serves as Vice President of Information Technology at Lumbee River Electric Membership Corporation (LREMC) and Chief Operating Officer of LREMC-Technologies. 

He joined LREMC in July 2017 where he directs and coordinates the information technology development and production activities across all departments servicing 60,000+ electric meters across 4 counties in southeast North Carolina. In addition, Malcolm serves as the principal-agent for LREMC-Technologies, a Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH), and dark fiber subsidiary that includes sustainment and future build strategies of more than 1,400 miles of fiber to serve southeastern North Carolina.  

A native of Pembroke, Malcolm received his commission in the United States Air Force in 1997. Malcolm’s military service ended in 2017, retiring at the rank of lieutenant colonel. After 20 years of service as a communication and cyber officer supporting the global Air Force network culminating in oversight for the information technology operations of Air Force installations in the Middle East, Caleb returned to his home region in North Carolina to join the local electrical cooperative. 

Upon returning home, he became committed to strengthening his community through service and leadership. In an effort to tackle broadband issues facing Robeson County, Malcolm established a grassroots collaboration of information technology professionals—the Robeson County Technology Think Tank. Malcolm served on UNC Pembroke’s Alumni Association Board as a director from 2016-2018 and as President from 2018-2020.  In May 2018, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper appointed him to serve on the North Carolina Credit Union Commission. Malcolm currently serves as the Chairperson of the six-member Board of Directors of Lumbee Tribe Enterprises, LLC (LTE). LTE is a tribally-owned and operated government services provider and a subsidiary of Lumbee Tribe Holdings, Inc., which is wholly-owned by the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina.

Malcolm has maintained his love for the sport of wrestling and officiates high school in both North Carolina and Texas.  He serves as the Immediate Past President for the Alamo Area Wrestling Officials Association (San Antonio) and represents his association on the Texas Wrestling Officials Association board.

Malcolm earned a bachelor’s degree in history from UNC Pembroke, a Master of Science in Military Operational Air and Science from Air Command and Staff College, and a Master of Science in Quality System Management from the National Graduate School of Quality Management.  

He lives in Pembroke, NC with his wife, Kyle, and their son Xander and daughter Kylee.
