Artists League of the Sandhill to feature works by Professor Brandon Sanderson

Species, an exhibit opening September 3, 2021, at the Artists League of the Sandhills, will feature work by Brandon Sanderson, professor of art at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

Art is a second career for Sanderson. He graduated from Colorado State University-Pueblo with a double major in computer science and art. After working five or six years as a computer programmer, it was his grandfather’s advice, “It’s easier to pursue your passions when you’re young,” that gave him the nudge to pursue an art career.

Nearly 20 years later, Sanderson has an incredibly successful career, not only as an artist but professor. He’s exhibited worldwide, including Chile, Cambodia and Poland, organized dozens of exhibitions on UNCP’s campus and brought in 50 visiting artists to work with faculty, students and the community.

His upcoming exhibit is in collaboration with another local artist, Daniel Conrad. The show runs through September 23, and both artists will be donating 10% of their commissions to the Moore County Humane Society.
