-Jarrett Rice, Carteret County 911 Telecommunicator and Dispatcher (Class of 2014)
“I absolutely love my job and the difference I am able to make being the first "first" responder in an emergency. I am looking to one day moving up into the county emergency management services side, and playing a bigger role in local government in my community… [My degree in political science from UNCP] absolutely helps me in my career. Especially moving forward in local government, a political science degree helps a ton, especially with moving upwards.”
-Congratulations Cathy Knudson, UNCP Admissions Office (Class of 2012)
"I went on from UNCP to pursue a Master’s of International Public Health at the University of Nottingham in Nottingham, UK. I wrote my dissertation (thesis) on the contextualization of tobacco and alcohol in popular television programs and how those portrayals affect social norms. I have recently been designated the International Student Admissions Counselor/Recruiter for UNCP. In this role I liaise with our prospective international students, as well as organizations that promote higher education in the USA. Next month I will be virtually presenting to a group of students in Ukraine on academic and cultural intelligence, and how studying outside of one’s home country can cultivate those skills."
