BELIZE- ELEMENTARY EDUCATION

Education students and Teacher candidates will have the chance to be immersed in the culture of Belize and actively engage with teachers, students, and curriculum in the classroom. Course offered in the spring and traveling during Maymester. (Education Students only.)

Czech Republic

CZECH REPUBLIC- POLITICAL SCIENCE

March 1 – 10, 2019

Spend your spring break in Prague, a political, cultural, historical, and economic center of Europe. Highlights of the trip include educational visits to sites such as Wenceslas Square, the Jewish Museum, and the Museum of Communism. There will also be visits to local businesses and prominent civic groups. All excursions, hotel accommodations, airfare, and some meals are included in the program cost! $2,900. (Open.)

PERU- FOREIGN LANGUAGES

March 1 – 10, 2019

During this spring break, students will have the opportunity to immerse in the Peruvian culture. We have organized personalized visits to the cities of Lima, Miraflores, Barranco and Cuzco as well as private tours to the Centro Histórico of Lima, the Thermal Waters, the Valle Sagrado and “Machu Picchu” one of the Seven Wonders of the World.  For this 3-credit hour course, students should request permission from the group leaders (Ms. Lopez-Fred) to register for SPN 3510. $2,900.

Accepting all students who have taken Spanish classes at UNCP or he/she should take any Spanish class during the same semester of the Study Abroad.

ENGLAND & SCOTLAND- MASS COMM. & ANTHROPOLOGY

May 6 – May 13, 2019

Take a Spring Semester 2nd-eight-weeks course on Comparative Media Systems (MCM 3000 World Media- Dr. Litty) or Cultural Anthropology in the U.K. (SOCS 4030- Dr. Spivey).  Travel with both classes and professors via train from Scotland to England with guided tours in both capital cities. Visit Edinburgh Castle, the Tower of London, and class-related locations like the Tate Modern and international media organizations (MCM 3000) or London’s War Museum and the National Museum of Scotland (SOCS 4030).  The travel portion occurs during Maymester.  Airfare, hotel, tours, daily breakfast, 2 dinners included. $3,337. MEXICO- BUSINESS

Come explore Mexico City with Drs. Gonzalez and Koirala during Maymester! Register for MGTS 4390.001 in Spring 2018, and travel during the first two weeks of May! This is a 3 credit, 8-week course, and we will be meeting once per week.

Immerse yourself in Mexican culture. Planned excursions include Lucha Libre (Mexican wrestling) shows, folkloric dancing performances at the beautiful Palacio de Bellas Artes, and a trip to see the award winning musical Les Miserables. We will have an opportunity to visit the Mexican Stock Exchange as well as a few Mexican manufacturing plants and businesses. Join us as we stop by the Frida Kahlo museum, wander about Chapultepec Park (think NYC’s Central Park times two), and stroll through the Zocalo, one of the largest city squares in the world. (Business Students only.)

Come explore Mexico City with Dr. Rivera on this choir performance study abroad in July of 2019. More information to come! (Music Students only.)

SOUTH KOREA- OPEN

Come explore Seoul on this unique summer program through our partner at University of Seoul. Take 1-2 classes during July 2019 in Summer II and travel with other UNCP students and a professor from the School of Business. Choose from any of these courses at UoS that will be taught in English and transfer back as UNCP credits. More information to come! ~$2,500. (Open.)
