The city was originally built on an island of Lake Texcoco by the Aztecs in 1325.

It's also the largest Spanish-speaking city in the world, where the New York Times classified it as "the metropolis that has it all". Mexico City is a cosmopolitan city, ideal for encounters with the historical past and a destination that offers rich opportunities for any student.
