The Theatre Program

Welcome to the theatre program at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke!

Our program offers intensive courses for students wanting professional careers in theatre arts. We have a world-class professional and academic faculty with decades of experience in professional theatre/film/television acting, theatre directing, and theatre design. Our beautiful theatre, the Givens Performing Arts Center was ranked among the 25 most amazing performing arts centers in the nation. Our Showcase Studio Theatre is a wonderfully intimate “black box” space, designed specifically for students to create their own projects. We are very excited by our new initiative called “SHOWCASE.” We have created a space where students can act, direct, and design their own shows with their own budgets, funded and mentored by the Theatre Arts Program.

This is in addition to our fully produced main stage season of plays, dance concerts, and musicals in the Givens Performing Arts Center.

We are a student-centric program, and we concentrate on making our students happy, while challenging them to grow into vital working professionals. Many of our students have gone on to professional careers in all aspects of theatre. Our mission is to graduate artists who are prepared for the rigorous, but wonderfully rewarding, life in the theatre!

We’re waiting on you to join our collaborative team!
