The degree must be completed within five years of admission to the program. Students should note rotation of core courses to assure that they can complete all requirements in a timely manner. Each graduate student should obtain the UNCP Catalog and the Graduate Student Handbook upon admission to the program. For additional information on the Graduate Program in English Education, consult www.uncp.edu/maee/.

Note that this program is not a concentration of the Master of Arts in English Education, though the English content courses are shared with that program. Language Arts concentration students may want to take an additional graduate English course, in order to get the total number of English hours to 18, the minimum number required for post-secondary teaching. Note also that there are several courses offered as part of the MA in English Education that may not be counted toward the MAEd in Middle Grades Education, including ENG 5300: Theories and Methods of Literary Research, and ENG 5110: Principles of English Linguistics. ENG 5300 is particularly recommended for students seeking to add an additional course. Contact the Area Director for more information.
