The Office of Student Inclusion and Diversity organized and supports diversity awareness planning committees that develop programming to celebrate and showcase the rich history, culture and contributions of UNC Pembroke’s diverse communities. The committees are open to students, faculty and staff.

The committees:

• increase the awareness, understanding and visibility of UNC Pembroke’s diverse communities;
• facilitate a coordinated and deliberate approach to the development and delivery of campus diversity awareness activities;
• bring together interested students, faculty, and staff in a collaborative space to develop programs that create a more inclusive campus community; and,
• encourage the development of intercultural competence.

Please note that the following changes have been made to this year's committees:

• The Women's History Month Committee has transitioned to the Gender Equity and Inclusion Committee. This committee will now encompass women and all other genders.
• The Transgender Awareness Week Committee will serve as a subcommittee to the LGBTQ+ Committee.
•  The Social Justice Symposium Committee has transitioned to the JusticeCon Committee.
• The new Multicultural Committee will encompass Scottish American, Irish American, Italian American, Middle Eastern, and North African identity groups.
