Kwanzaa is a seven-day celebration of the Black and African American community and culture that occurs from December 26 through January 1. Kwanzaa will be celebrated November 28 at UNC Pembroke while classes are in session. Everyone is welcome to attend the celebration.
Kwanzaa celebrates the Nguzo Saba (seven principles of African Heritage):
- Umoja (unity)
- Kujichagulia (self-determination)
- Ujima (collective work and responsibility)
- Ujamaa (cooperative economics)
- Nia (purpose)
- Kuumba (creativity)
- Imani (faith)
