  • Feel Better Fast Group: This live group builds self-regulation skills of (1) distress tolerance, (2) mindfulness, (3) emotion regulation and (4) interpersonal effectiveness. Handouts will be shared on all skills taught. Offered Thursdays 1-2 p.m. October 8-22, 2020. Call CAPS 910-521-6202 for a triage and referral to the group.
  • iRest Group (Integrative Restoration—a deep meditative practice) is hosted by a live counselor with various recordings from iRest professionals. Option 1 Mondays 3-4 p.m. until October 12, 2020. Option 2 Thursdays 1-2 p.m. until November 5, 2020. Both groups are open to be joined and are facilitated via WebEx; call CAPS 910-521-6202 for a triage and referral to the group.
  • iRest (Integrative Restoration—a deep meditative practice) meditation audio files are available at iRest practice explores the state that exists between sleep and wakefulness, where deep healing takes place in the mind and body. During the 30-40 minute practice, you are guided to rotate your conscious awareness through physical body and progress into an exploration of feelings, emotions, thoughts and joy that are present during your practice. This rotating awareness has been demonstrated to increase focus and attention while helping the nervous system calm.

Student Health Services is [still] here for you. From telehealth appointments to virtual resources and on-campus support, SHS is committed to providing high-quality healthcare for students. Call to get started.

  • Health and Wellness Webex Series: Join Student Health Services and Counseling and Psychological Services for a live discussion on the 4th Thursday of each month as we talk about the different challenges that students may face in the upcoming semester, as well as techniques to overcome these challenges. The Webex information is located on BraveConnect.
  • COVID-19 Response Workshop: Health Promotion is collaborating with The Office of Student Conduct to facilitate a COVID-19 Response Workshop for students who are not compliant with new COVID-19 requirements on campus. This will be an educational presentation on the importance of wearing a mask, educational information on COVID-19 and information on new COVID-19 protocols. This is offered in a Webex format on the first Monday and third Thursday of every month.
  • Telehealth: Student Health Services began virtual care visits via Webex or traditional telephone calls on Monday, March 23, 2020. Please be assured that we can address many non-urgent concerns through a virtual visit.   • Virtual Self-care Resources: Visit to take a look at our virtual self-care resources. This includes CollegeHealth TV, COVID-19 information, anxiety and sleep information, and more.
  • In-person Treatment: We are available to maintain ongoing healthcare for students (e.g. medication refills, follow up lab tests, brief questions, etc.) Students should call 910-521-6219 to make appointments. In order to minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19, we are no longer taking walk-ins. Face-to-face appointments will be limited.

  • Though UNCP classes are being conducted in a virtual environment, the standards of behavior have not changed.
