CPR – or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – is an emergency lifesaving procedure performed when the heart stops beating.  Immediate CPR can double or triple chances of survival after cardiac arrest.

Get Certified.  You could save someone’s life! 

The Basic Life Support (BLS) Course is a video-based, Instructor-led course that teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support. This course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED.  BLS teaches skills using the American Heart Association’s proven Practice-While-Watching technique, which allows Instructors to observe students, provide feedback and guide students’ acquisition of skills.

There is a quiz to be completed after reviewing the PowerPoint (see downloads below).  You must pass with a 70% score to complete the training successfully.  If you score less than 70% you will need to review the material and re-take the quiz until you pass for your session to be valid. 

Below are the steps to complete the golf cart/utility cart training:

1. Read the attached Cart/Utility Vehicle Safety Regulation;
2. View the downloadable Powerpoint Golf Cart Training (see downloads below) and take the online test;
3. Fill out the acknowledgment form (see downloads below) and contact EH&S for your “driving test”; and 
4. Turn in the acknowledgment form to EH&S when you drive.

 

Note:  The driving portion will need to be completed before you are authorized to drive the golf cart on-campus; it will be offered every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the Month.  The classes will be held at Pinchbeck Facilities Golf Cart Shelter between 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Golf/Utility Cart Certification Safety Training Exam

This "general awareness" training must be completed by all UNCP laser operators or others who routinely work with or around lasers used in research that are potentially dangerous prior to assignment of any task that could put them at risk of injury.  This training must be supplemented with training specific to the tasks and lasers that a person works with or around.  Supplemental training is to be provided by the PI/Laser Supervisor.
