Purnell Swett High School Creative Writing Seminar

In this creative writing seminar for 9th graders, students attending Purnell Swett High School will read and write poetry and short fiction, ultimately performing their work at a final celebration and contributing to a publication of student work. UNCP students and faculty will lead and facilitate the seminar, creating many opportunities for one-on-one discussions on writing and reading while building and mentoring relationships across institutions.

Wanna Get Involved?

This seminar was initiated in the fall of 2013 and continues to operate through the Literacy Commons.  Currently, for the Spring semester of 2015, if you want to volunteer, meet in front of the Literacy Commons (Wellons Hall, Suite G) on Mondays and Wednesdays at 3:15.  Many volunteers are carpooling to and from Purnell Swett, and they volunteer their time from 3:30 - 4:30.

As well, if you are interested in being involved with this seminar, contact Dr. Teagan Decker or Caleb Smitth; or you can always call the LC at 910.775.4775.
