COVID-19 Update for CARE Resource Center:

Beginning on May 27 through July 31, the CARE Resource Center will be open:

Monday 10 am-2 pm

Wednesday 10 am-2 pm

Friday 10 am-2 pm

As always, the CARE Center is open to UNCP students, faculty, and staff and will continue to operate under normal visitation polices.  However, to assist in meeting the immediate needs of our community, during this time period only, policies for community members have changed.  Community members are welcome to visit the center once per month without meeting the requirement of first participating in Brave Foundations.

Due to COVID-19, the following regulations will be implemented:

  • Only 4 patrons will be allowed inside the CARE Center at one time
  • Patrons must maintain social distancing guidelines by standing at least 6 ft apart from other patrons and CARE Center staff
  • Only staff will have access to the check-out kiosk
  • Patrons must ask for assistance with produce
  • The CARE Center will temporarily suspend clothing donations due to inability to properly clean and sanitize
  • Volunteers will still be permitted to serve, but must follow new guidelines.  Volunteers can register on UNCP Serve by clicking here

COVID-19 Update for CARE Resource Center:

CARE Resource Center Virtual Food Drive

Since March 16th, the Center has seen nearly 400 individual visits with requests for assistance. Each visit results in someone getting the food and supplies they need to remain stable.

You can do your part to ensure no student goes without during these stressful times by visiting the CARE Center Food Drive Fund page, and making a donation. Each dollar raised will go towards purchasing more food and supplies. The more we have, the more we can support our community during this crisis, as well as any others that may occur. After you have made your gift, consider applifying your contribution by sharing our cause on your social media. Help us spread the message so that no one at UNC Pembroke will go without.

For more information on how you can support, contact Christie Poteet, the Director of Community and Civic Engagement at UNCP at or 910.775.4296.

The UNCP CARE Resource Center includes an on-campus food pantry and professional clothing closet open to students, faculty, staff, and community members. Students are welcome to visit the pantry twice per month, while faculty and staff are welcome once per month.  Community members who wish to receive food services are required to attend monthly educational workshops focused on life and career development skills.  Upon completion of each workshop, participants will be awarded a CARE Resource voucher to use at the pantry.

Though the CARE Resource Center is housed under the Office for Community and Civic Engagement, it is primarily managed by student workers and student volunteers.
