• campus Alert ✖CLOSE

Yesterday evening Piedmont Natural Gas disconnected natural gas service to main campus in order prevent potential hazards. As of this morning, gas service has not been restored. Utility crews are working continuously to repair the segment and restore service as soon as possible.

It is important to know faculty, staff, students and visitors on campus are not in immediate danger because of any potential gs leaks. The disruption in service may affect some campus activity throughout the day, including dining services. Dining facilities are working to bring in the necessary resources to provide limited hot meal options. We appreciate your patience and will update you as additional information becomes available.

Academic Resource Mentors

Academic Resource Mentors (ARMs) are paraprofessionals that are assigned to serve as peer mentors for students enrolled in the course UNV 1100 - Strategies for Success.  In addition to assisting with the course curriculum, ARMs address students' unique academic concerns to guide them in achieving academic excellence. ARMs focus on student growth and empower them to become self-directed learners that understand their academic responsibilities. Mentors are upper-class students who are successful academically, involved in campus life, and have a desire to help college students successfully manage their transition to UNCP. They serve as student advocates, guides to campus resources, and work one-on-one with students to assist in academic skills as well as basic adjustment to college and serve as a role model for academic, co-curricular and leadership behaviors.
