Information For Faculty

The Mary Livermore Library supports the teaching and research needs of its faculty at sites away from the campus of The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. The Library offers a range of services for off-campus faculty.

Mary Livermore Library Collections:
All faculty are invited to use the resources of the Mary Livermore Library. The collection includes over 350,000 volumes, more than 48,000 serial titles, and access to 150 electronic databases, among other resources. Students can access the online catalog, Primo, through the Library’s home page. Distance education faculty can request materials from the Library using the Enter Hold Request feature in Primo.

Document Delivery (Interlibrary Loan):
If the Library has the materials that you need, we will mail them to your home address upon request. If we do not have the materials, then Document Delivery will search libraries nationwide to find them.

Faculty with disabilities needing document conversion accommodations should submit the "Document Conversion Request Form."

Using Other Libraries:
Faculty at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke are eligible to use the libraries of other institutions in The University of North Carolina system. More information is available here.

Reference Services:
Persons needing reference assistance may call 910.521.6656 or send their questions via the Ask A Librarian webform.

The reference staff will assist you with:

  • identifying and using electronic and print reference tools
  • formulating research strategies
  • locating research material worldwide
  • finding answers to specific informational questions

Electronic Resources:
The Mary Livermore Library provides access to over 150 web-based electronic databases, including both state and federal documents online. The databases are accessible from any networked campus computer and via remote access.

Electronic resources are arranged by title and subject. A library PIN in necessary for off-campus access.

Research Instruction Support Services:
The Library offers a range of services that support research instruction for your distance education students. These services include: research instruction sessions, for both online courses as well as for courses held at UNCP distance education program sites; creation of online instructional resources that are specific to course research assignments; creation of handouts, guides, and bibliographies; as well as specialized reference services.
