Document Delivery

All students enrolled in classes at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke are encouraged and are welcome to visit Mary Livermore Library and make use of the resources and services. However, the Library is committed to making sure that students in our distance education programs have access to materials, no matter where they live. Distance education faculty and students must fill out the Distance Education Verification Form before materials are sent.

Note: distance education students, who also come to campus, must actually retrieve materials from the Library.

If the Library has the materials that you need, we will mail them to your home address upon request. If we do not have the materials, then Document Delivery will search other libraries nationwide to find them.

Help with accessing full text articles online is available at or by phone at 910.521.6656.

Students with disabilities needing document conversion accommodations should submit the Document Conversion Request Form at

Books: Use Primo, the Library’s online catalog, to search for items (books, videos, DVDs) held by the Library. If you do not come to campus, you can request items in Primo by using the Enter Hold Request feature. We will pull the requested items and mail them to you at your home address. You are responsible for mailing them back to the Library before the due date.

  • Loan Periods
Materials are checked out to distance learners for four weeks. Videos and DVDs are checked out to distance learners for three days (with extra time allotted for mailing). Most materials may be renewed three times, unless the items are on hold for another student or the student has excessive fines. Best sellers are only checked out for one week and are renewable, if the aforementioned stipulations do not apply. Note: graduate students may now borrow books from the Library for an academic semester, as well as get 10 free interlibrary loan requests when there are associated costs.

  • Online Renewals
Distance Learners may renew materials either in person or online at Items are renewable unless a hold has been placed by another patron or if you have accrued fines of $25.00 or more. Students can contact Circulation via email at, or by phone at 910.521.6516, or by fax at 910.521.6547.

If an item that you want is not available at UNCP, then you will have to use the interlibrary loan process. More information about interlibrary loan services is available at
