Welcome to the College of Health Sciences!

We are excited and proud to be UNCP’s newest degree-granting college. Four departments, whose programs each have vibrant histories as members of this academic community, join to enhance interprofessional learning opportunities for our students.

The College of Health Sciences contains the Departments of Counseling, Health and Human Performance, Nursing, and Social Work, who together make up about 1,400 students, or more than 22% of UNCP’s student body.

Our faculty and staff are committed to improving the quality of life for individuals and families in our region and beyond. Through the preparation of students and the engagement in research and service, we are dedicated to improving health and education outcomes that enhance well-being.

We are invested in addressing complex social problems, not only through treating illness and deficits, but also through creating wellness. We seek to engage students in team-oriented, interdepartmental collaborations that prepare them to enter their professions ready to collaborate and consult with a wide range of professionals.

True to the university’s core philosophy of offering a personalized and supportive education, well-qualified faculty are dedicated to providing a truly exceptional education, complete with engaging experiences and hands-on learning opportunities.

In the College of Health Sciences, students may accompany faculty to professional conferences to present research or receive training in state of the art new models of practice. Most of our diverse group of undergraduate and graduate students complete at least one internship experience prior to graduation.

As the academic home of more than 50 full-time faculty members, their nationally recognized research and professional leadership both inform their classroom teaching and connect students to their respective fields. Our faculty are working to improve lives through research and engagement in areas such as rural health, college and career readiness, human trafficking, culture and health care, addictive disorders, leadership development, and mental health issues across the lifespan. We are committed to making a difference in this region and beyond.

We offer multiple pathways to successful, sought-after careers. Wherever you want to go, whatever you want to do, we know you can get there from the College of Health Sciences at UNC Pembroke!

We invite you to explore our academic programs online, and we would love to have you for a campus visit!
