The University of North Carolina at Pembroke and the Department of Nursing work together with community resources to make our programs effective. Below are a sample of the organizations we work with to give you the best opportunities possible.
Off Campus Sites
The RN-BSN program has three off campus sites for student convenience.
A site at Sandhills Community College in Southern Pines was opened in 1994. Cohorts start in the odd years (ie. 2009, 2011, 2013, etc.).
Our second site at Southeastern Community College in Whiteville opened in 2004. Cohorts start in the even years (ie.2010, 2012, 2014, etc).
Students may take courses at either of these locations and complete the nursing curriculum in 5 semesters or transfer to the UNCP campus if they choose to accelerate their individual plan of study.
Our newest site opened Fall 2005 at Fort Bragg. At this location, nursing course are available in 8 week cycles.
The Department of Nursing anticipates continual growth in the number of off campus sites.
External Community of Interest - Advisory Committee
The faculty of the Department of Nursing believe that the community it serves plays a vital role in program development and continued program relevance and excellence.
Direct community involvement is characterized by valuing external input and a commitment to involve external stakeholders in a variety of formal and informal means.
The primary purpose of the Advisory Committee is to provide an effective link between practice and education by utilizing nursing and health leaders from the UNCP service area as advisors to the program. In this capacity, members will advise on program policies, planning, curricula, and standards to ensure that graduates of the program are competent in the practice of nursing and prepared to meet the challenges faced by nurses in the health care delivery system.
There is an External Community of Interest for both the RN-BSN track as well as the pre-licensure track.
