In 2019, Chancellor Cummings appointed Dr. Mark Milewicz and Christie Poteet to lead the Strategic Planning and Resource Council (SPARC). The Co-Chairs are supported by the sponsorship of Provost Dr. David Ward, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Dr. Lisa Schaeffer, and Chief of Staff Mark Gogal.
SPARC is charged with engaging in research and data gathering to inform the development of a strategic plan which will chart the course of the university for the next 5 years.
To develop the university's next strategic plan, SPARC is building upon the most recent strategic plan, as well as additional work found in the 2017-2018 BraveBook initiative on strategic planning. This BraveBook committee focused on documenting the alignment of the UNC System Strategic Plan (Higher Expectations), UNCP's strategic plan, the BraveBook, and subsequent individual unit plans.
Beginning over the summer of 2019, members of SPARC will be collecting feedback from faculty, staff, students and community members. Multiple opportunities for input will be available continuing through the fall semester.
Have a question about the process or just want to send a note of encouragement to the committee?
To keep our campus community informed, Chancellor Cummings and the chairs of SPARC will issue periodic progress updates throughout the strategic planning process.
