1. REGULATORY STATEMENT
1.1 Academic-year appointments involve a nine-month employment period. Dates for this period vary from year to year, but are specified in the contractual documents received by 9-month employees.
1.2 Calendar-year appointments involve a 12-month employment period. Initial appointments may begin at any time but are usually for the period of July 1 through June 30.
1.3 EPA salaries for both calendar-year (12-month) appointments and academic-year (9-month) appointments are payable in 12 equal monthly installments. For persons on 9-month academic appointments, July and August paychecks include prepayment for the upcoming academic year; May and June paychecks include post-payment for the preceding academic year. For new academic-year appointments these installments begin in August (2/12s of salary) and end in June unless otherwise specified by the Payroll Office, in consultation with Academic Affairs. Faculty whose employment with the University of North Carolina at Pembroke ends before the completion of the fall semester will owe the university reimbursement for a proportionate amount of the prepayment.
