Davance Locklear

History 2000
Lieutenant colonel, U.S. Air Force Reserves. Commercial pilot. American Airlines. After earning his degree, Davance joined the United States Air Force. Completed 625 combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Awarded six air medals for combat and four Meritorious Service awards.

Histotechnologist, Norfolk, Va. Standout UNCP soccer player. Holds multiple school records in scoring and assists. Inducted into the Hall of Fame. Works as a histotechnologist with a dermatology practice in Virginia.

Jerry Lanier

History 1974
Ret. U.S. Ambassador to Sudan, Uganda. Career diplomat. Served 33 years with the Department of State. Rose to rank of Ambassador. After the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, he served as head of the State Department’s Bureau of Counterterrorism.

Assistant wrestling coach, Greensboro College. First two-time national champion in UNCP history. Four-time All-American. UNCP male Athlete of the Year 2015. Midwest Regional’s Wrestler of the Year 2015. Former assistant wrestling coach at Ferrum College, NC Pride Wrestling Club  and UNCP.
