The University Writing Center is currently accepting applications for paid tutoring positions
Job Description
Tutors work individually with student writers, providing feedback on such issues as focus, organization, argument, grammar and formatting. Tutors also perform office tasks as needed. New tutors will earn a starting salary of $7.50 per hour with the possibility of a raise after their first year. Tutors enjoy flexible hours and a fun working environment. We are looking for undergraduate and graduate applicants from the humanities, social sciences, sciences and professional fields.
Training
New tutors will enroll in ENG 2990, Writing Center Theory and Practice (Credit, 3 semester hours) in Spring and will begin work in January or February. The class will involve reading, writing assignments and projects, classroom discussion, observation, and supervised tutoring practice.
Requirements
A grade of ‘C’ or better in English 1050 and 1060 or equivalent.
Current UNCP student status (part-time or full-time)
