Studio

The 28' x 60' studio has a 17.5' ceiling and three staging areas, including a news desk. The studio offers 3-camera switching, teleprompting, chroma keying, and a range of lighting instruments. Students learn a variety of crew and talent responsibilities while working on original productions in class and co-curricular activities.

In this postproduction suite, students have access to cutting-edge, professional tools for integrating the moving image with voice, music, and graphics in a virtual environment. Software at these two workstations includes Final Cut Pro, Media 100, Boris Effects, Photoshop and more, on the Macintosh G5 running OSX. Tape formats supported in this suite include DVC Pro, miniDV, S-VHS, and 3/4". The optical media supported in this suite include CD and DVD. Six networked computers offer Internet and intranet access for news writers preparing and submitting scripts to the news server.

Mac Lab for students to work on video editing, computer animation, digital image manipulation, DVD mastering, in many video formats.

Mac Lab

As a hands-on classroom, this postproduction laboratory serves up to 13 students at a time working on computer animation, video editing, digital image manipulation, graphics, music, DVD mastering, and many other applications. Workstations are equipped with the Macintosh G5 running OSX. Software taught in this room includes Final Cut Pro, Lightwave, Modeler, DVD Studio Pro, LiveType, Soundtrack, iMovie, iDVD. Tape formats supported in this lab include DVC pro, miniDV, and S-VHS. Optical media and other storage media supported in this lab include CD, DVD, and JAZ.

Television Studio Control Room.

Control Room

Students learn to lead a crew of fellow technicians in production of basic talk shows, newscasts, and simple theatrical productions taking place in the TV studio. Classmates serve in a variety of positions, including director, tape operator, character generator, switcher, and audio operator. They work with Broadcast Pix Studio, an integrated digital switcher, still store, and character generator offering 3-D transitions, chroma keying, and video playback.

The room also holds our master control center for scheduling and transmission of programming on our cable channel.

The Mobile Production Unit.

Mobile Production Unit

A cargo van that enables multicamera directing on location. Switching and graphics are performed on NewTek's integrated production suite, Video Toaster, version 4.
