Wednesday, February 4

  • A Red Cross Blood Drive will be held in the UC Lounge, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • The Moore Series Concert presents "A Journey into the World of Opera" at 10 a.m. in the Moore Hall Auditorium. Voice faculty members Robin Lynne Frye, Dr. Gail Morfesis, Jennifer Thomas, and Christine Weidinger join their talents to present an hour of the world's best-loved operatic scenes concluding with Menotti’s one act opera, ”The Telephone,” performed by Dr. Morfesis and local baritone and organist Mark Frazier. It is free.
  • Faculty Fair in the Faculty Dining Room is 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. $4.50 + tax. On the menu is tossed salad, chicken cordon blue, beef tips, rice pilaf, a vegetarian selection and the chef’s choice of seasonal accompaniments.

"Tobacco Money Feeds My Family,” a documentary film made in North Carolina, will be shown at 7 pm. in Moore Hall Auditorium. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the
Library.

Elliot’s book of poetry, “The Old Possums Book of Practical Cats,” ”Cats” has been celebrated the world over. Featuring the hit song “Memory,” “Cats” is sure to delight audiences of all ages. Tuesday, February 17

Dr. Gail Morfesis, soprano, will present a faculty recital in Moore Hall at 7:30 p.m. The program will include songs by Niles, Faure, Wagner and two American operatic arias by Carlyle Floyd accompanied by Dr. Sharyn Edwards, chair of the Music Department at Southeastern Community College. In one of the highlights of the program music department colleagues, Dr. Beth Maisonpierre, pianist, and Dr. Janita Byars, clarinetist, will join Dr. Morfesis in presenting Schubert's "Shepherd on the Rock." The concert is free and open to the public.

Thursday, February 19

At 7:30 p.m., an operatic concert will be performed as part of the Richard F. Burkhardt Fine and Performing Arts Series in the Southeastern Community College Auditorium in Whiteville, N.C. Dr. Gail Morfesis will be a guest artist.
