Tuesday, December 2

Dave Barry
  • The retirement reception of Monnie Sanderson and Helen Alston is 2 - 4 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge of the University Center. Refreshments.
  • Humorist Dave Barry performs as part of the Distinguished Speaker Series at 7 p.m. in GPAC. Tickets are $10. Every absurdity of everyday life is fodder for this syndicated columnist. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary, he has written several best sellers including, “Dave Barry Talks Back” and “Dave Barry is from Mars and Venus.” His writing was the basis for the CBS sitcom, “Dave’s World.”
  • 7 p.m. at Moore Hall Auditorium is the Senior Recital of Matt Hall, trumpet

 

Wednesday, Dec. 3

  • The annual campus Holiday Social is 10 p.m. in the U.C. Food, fun and Santa too.
  • Free blood pressure screening, 10 - 11:30 a.m. in the U.C.
  • 10 a.m. in Moore Hall Auditorium is a Departmental Recital.

Wednesday/Thursday, Dec. 3-4

University Theatre auditions for “Only Drunks and Children Tell the Truth,” a Native American play, are Dec. 3 - 4, 6:30 p.m. at the GPAC Studio Theatre on the third floor. The show is scheduled for February 10, 11, 13, 14 at 8 p.m. in Studio Theatre in GPAC.

Friday, December 5

Seussical, the Musical“Seussical, the Musical” is 7 p.m. Tickets: $30, $28 and $10 child/student. Direct from Broadway and a blockbuster national tour. The magic and genius of Dr. Seuss is celebrated in this witty, wild and whimsical new musical. Re-discover the delightful and most beloved characters of all time.

6:30 p.m. in the Auxiliary Gymnasium is the annual Medieval Feast.

Thursday, December 11

The Oak Ridge BoysThe Oak Ridge Boys come to GPAC at 8 p.m. Tickets: $30, $28 and $10 child/student. Celebrate the holiday season with one of the music industry’s legendary groups. Featuring holiday hits as well as chart toppers that include “Elvira,” “Bobbie Sue,” “Dream On,” “Thank God For Kids” and “American Made,” among many others. The Oak Ridge Boys have earned such industry awards as the Grammy, Dove, CMA, and the ACM. From country and pop to gospel, the Oak Ridge Boys promises to be the hit of the holiday season.

 

 

Saturday, December 13

The annual Chancellor’s Holiday Ball will be held from 7 - 11 p.m. at Pine Crest Country Club in Lumberton. Come and celebrate the season with food, music and friends.

Thursday, December 18

The Staff Council’s Employee Recognition Committee will host the Employee Bash will from noon to 2 p.m. in the U.C. Lounge. Come to enjoy entertainment, door prizes and food. Lunch will be served.
