peer mentor program

The Transfer Transition Peer Mentor Program has peer mentors available for any transfer student to meet with. The peer mentors are versed in helping transfer students adapt to life at UNCP. They are knowledgeable about campus life and about student resources. Several of our peer mentors were transfer students themselves, so they can identify first hand with the needs of transfer students. They also are enrolled in a different array of majors, so a student is able to get connected with a peer mentor in the same major.

Not only are peer mentors available inside of the office for any transfer student to meet with, but they also play a large role in events that the Transfer Transition Office sponsors. Because of their knowledge of campus and student culture, they play a pivotal role in helping to plan and staff events. Past events that the peer mentors have been involved with include interest tables and interest meetings.

The peer mentor office is located in Jacobs Hall, Suite H. Office hours are 8AM to 5PM, Monday through Friday. Transfer students can also get connected to a peer mentor via the Transfer Transition website, the UNCP Transfer Mentors group page on facebook, and via email at transfer.mentor@uncp.edu.
