The Teaching and Learning Center of The University of North Carolina at Pembroke was established in 1996. Its mission is to promote the teaching excellence for which the University is known by generating the ideas, activities, and enthusiasm that foster quality teaching and learning.
Teaching and Learning Center goals:
The TLC seeks to foster an environment where teaching is rewarded and recognized as an opportunity and a privilege. Assisted by the Task Force on Teaching Excellence, its advisory body, the Teaching and Learning Center fulfills its mission by providing faculty with opportunities to attend presentations and workshops on teaching, the annual Summer Institute on Online and Hybrid Course Development, and the annual Faculty Development Day. Faculty have access to learning resources; and apply for grants for research and professional development, teaching enhancement.
As a unit within the Division of Academic Affairs, the Teaching and Learning Center establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with other offices and departments within the University, including the Division of Instructional Technology, Office of Distance Education, and Livermore Library. The Teaching and Learning Center is located in the Health Sciences Building.
