1.1 F-1 students are eligible to work on-campus while attending classes. The work does not need to be related to your field of study. You must maintain legal F-1 status while engaging in on-campus employment.
1.1.1 J-1 students are not eligible for on-campus employment at any time during their duration of stay. You are welcome to volunteer or intern for credit to gain practical experience.
2. DEFINITION OF ON-CAMPUS EMPLOYMENT
2.1 On-campus employment includes work done on-campus including jobs in the university library, dormitory, dining facilities, laboratories, and administrative offices.
3.1 Student must be enrolled in a full course of study during the academic year.
3.2 Student must have completed at least 2 semesters of full-time study at UNCP.
3.3 Student must have at least an overall GPA of 3.00.
3.4 Student must maintain an overall GPA of 3.00. If you fall below a 3.00 your on-campus work privilege will be revoked.
3.5 Student may not work more than 10-hours per week on-campus during the academic year.
3.6 Student may work full-time on-campus during vacation periods.
3.7 Student may not engage in 'on-campus employment' after completing requirements for your degree and are in your 60 day grace period.
3.8 International Student is not eligible for the Federal work-study program.
4. ON-CAMPUS OPPORTUNITIES
4.1 Students are responsible for finding on-campus employment. You may visit various departments or seek assistance from Career Services.
5. ON-CAMPUS PAPERWORK
5.1 International students will need to complete all paperwork associated with U.S. employment. You will need to pay and report all earnings on your income.
6. DOCUMENTATION NEEDED AFTER GETTING A JOB
6.1 If you do not have a social security number you will need to file an application with the Social Security Administration.
6.1.1 A letter from the PDSO/DSO will be provided.
6.1.2 You will need to obtain a letter from the position on-campus offering employment.
