Apply to ELI

The minimum English language requirement for full admission to UNCP is a 520 on the paper-based TOEFL or a 68 on the Internet-based TOEFL (see the TOEFL/IELTS Equivalency Chart). Students who do not meet the minimum English language requirement to be admitted to UNCP can apply to the ELI.

Applying to the ELI is a two-step process. All students are required to submit a UNCP Admissions Application first to ensure that they meet all admission requirements other than the minimum English language requirement. After that, they can fill out the online ELI Application.

Step 1. Submit a UNCP Admissions Application

Send the following documents to the Department of Admissions:

1.  Undergraduate Application Form

2. $45 application fee

3. Certified and official English-language translations of your high school transcripts and/or exit exams

4. Photocopy of identification page of passport

5.  Proof(s) of Financial Support

Financial support must be equal to or greater than a full year worth of tuition, fees and other living expenses.  See Tuition and Fees.  An I-20 visa document will not be produced unless proof of financial support is given.

If you are interested in a UNCP graduate program you should contact The UNCP Graduate School as well as the department in your field of study to receive appropriate details.

Step 2. Submit the online ELI Application

Your ELI Application will be reviewed once the Department of Admissions reviews  your application and determines that you meet all admission requirements other than the minimum English language requirement.
