Guest and Temporary Network Accounts

These accounts are available to university-sponsored visitors only. They allow access to the UNCP network and the Internet and must be requested by the sponsoring department.

Wireless Guest Account

This account is for accessing the UNCP wireless network by guests with their personal devices. DoIT will provide a username and password, which cannot be changed.

The original request form must be submitted to the DoIT Help Desk at least five business prior to the account being needed. DoIT is required to retain the original document with original signature for auditing purposes.

Request procedure:

  1. Access the Guest Access Application - Wireless.  This is a fillable form, so please type the information into the form if possible. However, it does have to printed and signed.  It cannot be submitted electronically.
  2. A university sponsor must complete the form and submit the original to the DoIT Help Desk. The requested access period cannot be changed once establishing the account.
  3. DoIT will set up a guest account and the sponsor will receive the guest account information (which includes a username, password and instructions) via email.
  4. Once the guest arrives, the university sponsor will provide this information to the guest.

NOTE: The guest account will be deactivated after the end of the access period.

 

LAN Guest Account

This account is used for accessing campus resources (i.e. lab and classroom computers) by university sponsored guests.  It also provides access to the wireless network with personal devices. DoIT will provide a username and password.

The original form must be submitted to the DoIT Help Desk at least 5 business days prior to the account being needed. DoIT is required to retain the original documents with original signatures for auditing purposes.

Request procedure:

  1. Access the Guest Access Application - LAN.  This is a fillable form, so please type the information into the form if possible.  However, it must be printed and signed.  It cannot be submitted electronically.
  2. Each guest completes an application.  Although, the program sponsor can complete and sign the application if the account needs to be set up prior to the guest's arrival on campus.
  3. The guest or sponsor must submit the original form to the DoIT Help Desk.
  4. After DoIT sets up the guest account, the progam sponsor will be contacted to pick up the account username and initial password from the DoIT Help Desk.  

NOTE: The program sponsor is responsible for notifying the DoIT Help Desk to disable accounts when the current program ends or when account users leave the program.

 

Temporary Network Account

This account is used for programs offered by UNCP (i.e. workshops) for accessing campus lab and classroom computers.   DoIT will provide usernames and passwords to the program director.  Neither the username nor password can be changed.

The original form must be submitted by the program director to the DoIT Help Desk at least 5 business days prior to the account being needed. DoIT is required to retain the original documents with original signatures for auditing purposes.

Request procedure:

  1. Access the Temporary Network Access Application.  This is a fillable form, so please type the information into the form if possible.  However, it does have to be printed and signed.  It cannot be submitted electronically.
  2. The program director completes the application and must submit the original form to the DoIT Help Desk.
  3. After DoIT sets up the temporary accounts, the director will be contacted with account information. 

NOTE: The program director is responsible for use of these accounts and for notifying the DoIT Help Desk to disable accounts when the current program ends or when account users leave the program.
