The University of North Carolina at Pembroke offers the opportunity to study at Linnaeus University (formerly Växjö University), Sweden. Swedish Flag

Linnaeus is a major regional university in southeastern Sweden, and is the capital of the Kronoberg region. The town is situated 200 kilometers northeast of Copenhagen and 400 kilometers southwest of Stockholm. The town is surrounded by a beautiful countryside-forest, lakes, and rivers. Linnaeus, with 70,000 inhabitants, is a highly modern town and is a center for high tech industry. Linnaeus University, with over 9,000 students, is well known for its strong international profile with student and faculty exchanges involving a number of universities all over the world.

Requirements to apply:

  • Minimum G.P.A. 2.50
  • Sophomore Standing

To learn more about the study abroad opportunity at Linnaeus University in Sweden, please contact the Study Abroad Coordinator, in the Center for International Programs at, 910-521-6573 or stop by the Center for International Programs Office. You are required to submit:

  • UNCP Application for Study Abroad (application fee of $50)
  • Linnaeus University Online Application:
    1. UNCP Coordinator will send an an e-mail to Linnaeus University. The e-mail will include:

      - Name of the nominated student
      - E-mail address to the student

    2. The student/s will receive an e-mail with their log in information and instruction on how to apply. To the online application the student will be asked to add the following documents electronically:

      - Transcripts of Records
      - English Language Proficiency Report         
      - A copy of the passport photo page
      These should be attached as PDF files, no larger then 5 MB. Please prepare this before starting the online application.

    3. When the application form is filled out and submitted with all the attachments required, the International Office will start the process of reviewing the student.

    4. Once the student is formally accepted, their letter of acceptance and the welcome package will be sent out to their home address.Vaxjo
