UNCP Birth-Kindergarten Classes at Fayetteville Technical Community College

Beginning in spring of 2000, our Birth-Kindergarten major classes have been offered on the campus of FTCC, Fayetteveille, NC. Each semester we offer four classes in the Early Childhood Education Center in the evenings for our students who are engaged in full-time employment during the day.

Advisement and Registration at FTCC :

Advisement is offered at FTCC to students taking UNCP Birth-Kindergarten classes. Our BK faculty member, Dr. Irina Paraschiv, has an office in the faculty suite on second floor of the Early Childhood Building on the FTCC campus. She provides advisement by appointment during the fall and spring semesters. You may e-mail her at: irina.paraschiv@uncp.edu.

Students will register on Braveweb, as a UNCP student, for the classes offered on the FTCC campus. (Your password will be mailed to you after you are accepted to UNCP and your information is processed by the registrar's office.)

Location of Classes at FTCC : Location of BK classes at FTCC is in the Early Childhood Building. We have been assigned room 225 on second floor of that building on a regular basis. If there is a change in location, it will be posted on this webpage. The office of Continuing Education at UNCP is responsible for securing classrooms at FTCC; if you have questions, you may call that office (see if you can find phone number!)

Textbooks: Your textbooks for FTCC classes will be purchased through the bookstore at UNCP. You may go to the website for the UNCP bookstore and search for your course number and find the titles of texts. They will be shipped to you from the bookstore, or you may pick them up at the bookstore in Pembroke. Be sure to search for your texts in advance of the first class meeting, so they will be in your hands before class starts.

Taking General Education Classes from a Distance : If you are taking BK major classes at FTCC and have general education classes to complete, there are some available online through UNCP. You need to do pre-registration (in October and March, if you are a continuing student) in order to gain access to these; they fill early. Other options include: taking classes at the UNCP campus OR obtaining permission in advance from our registrar to take a general education class that would transfer to UNCP from another 4-year college in your geographical area. Once you transfer to UNCP from a community college you may not go back to a 2-year college to take classes (to transfer to UNCP toward your 4-year degree.)
