National Educational Technology Standards - Teachers (NETS-T)

6. SOCIAL, ETHICAL, LEGAL, AND HUMAN ISSUES
Teachers understand the social, ethical, legal, and human issues surrounding the use of technology in PK-12 and apply that practice and understanding. Teachers:
 

A. Model and teach legal and ethical practice related to technology use.
 
  • permission form to use students' work/picture on the Internet
  • Internet Use form
  • discussion of copyright issues stemming from resources page on PPT presentation
  • following copyright issues for graphics on class webpages, presentations, etc.
B. Apply technology resources to enable and empower learners with diverse backgrounds, characteristics, and abilities.
 
  • identify and evaluate websites for students with diverse backgrounds, characteristics, and abilities.
  • identify and evaluate software for students with diverse backgrounds, characteristics, and abilities
C. Identify and use technology resources that affirm diversity.
 
  • list resources that affirm diversity
  • develop a multimedia presentation that addresses diversity
D. Promote safe and healthy use of technology resources.
 
  • parent letter dealing with Internet use
  • lesson dealing with Internet safety
  • create a list of do's and don'ts that deal with student safety on the Internet
E. Facilitate equitable access to technology resources for all students.
 
  • examples of computer use rules
  • schedules for computer use
  • plan for use of adaptive technology for specials needs children
