get involved!

Welcome to the 'Getting Involved!' portion of the SGA website. Here you will find ways on how you can help your fellow students. So, if you have a go-getter attitude, you have come to the right place!

Asking Questions and Getting Answers

Q. How can I become a Senator?

A. To become an SGA senator you must either run for election or apply to be an At-Large Senator. Freshmen elections are in the Fall and general elections are in the Spring. To become an At-Large Senator, pick up an application form from the SGA office.

Q. I am a commuter student, can I still get involved with SGA?

A. Of course you can, in fact, SGA highly encourages it. We want as much diversity as possible to represent SGA to the fullest potential!

Q. As a Graduate student, can I become a senator and be involved with SGA?

A. Again, if you are enrolled here at UNCP, then you can become part of the senate and even obtain Chair positions in various committees.

Q. Student Government sounds very interesting, but I doubt that I can dedicate coming to weekly meetings. I would, however, like to help out when needed. Would that be possible?

A. Of course it is possible. If you cannot fit SGA into your schedule, SGA will fit you in theirs. There will be many opportunities throughout the year where you can help out. You can help out just by voicing your opinion to one of our Senators.

Q. If I am not on the Senate, can I still partake in attending the weekly meetings?

A. This is something that most students do not take advantage of, but we are here for you, and you may attend as many SGA meetings as you want. We are open for criticism and would love to have students come and voice their opinions and views.
