COMMUNITY PARTNERS
“The service-learning projects developed by Dr. Spivey in collaboration with the Center For Community Action (CCA) created a high level of student engagement in learning because of the individual and social significance of the service-learning projects. Students spent uninterrupted time with elders in the community from our diverse cultures represented in Robeson County. They learned the life histories of community members and documented the contributions that they had made and are making in their communities. The oral histories were compiled and will be utilized in publications that will credit UNCP students and provide them with resume entries in the categories of service-learning and publications.”

Two students comment on Dr. Spivey’s service-learning project in his Cultural Anthropology class:
