It is my pleasure to welcome students to the Division of Student Affairs at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

College is about learning - both inside and outside the classroom. Through participation in campus activities, students can build personal and leadership skills.

At the same time, college allows students to forge new relationships, create memories and have fun!

Student Affairs is committed to providing quality programs, activities, services and facilities that assist, enhance and enrich student personal growth and development experiences at UNC Pembroke.

Programs and services are offered to assist each student to develop intellectually, socially, culturally, physically and emotionally. Opportunities for personal growth and development abound! We believe that student learning begins with participation and engagement. We encourage students to get involved in some of the University's many activities which include: Student Government Association, Campus Activities Association, clubs and organizations, student publications, theatre, intramural sports, Greek life and our student leadership and service and personal development programs - just to name a few.

We encourage students to take advantage of the facilities available on campus, including tennis courts, bowling alley, swimming pool, fitness center and track. While it is important that students' first priority be their academic studies, we encourage students to take advantage of the many co-curricular activities and programs available outside the classroom.

The Division of Student Affairs includes: University Housing, Student Health Services, Student Life, Counseling and Testing, Career Services, the Chavis University Center, the Givens Performing Arts Center, Judicial Affairs, Multicultural and Minority Affairs, Greek Life, Leadership and Service and Intramurals.

Within the University campus community, it is easy to become active in social, athletic, leadership or service activities. Students will make mends with peers, faculty and staff and gain experiences, memories and relationships that will last a lifetime!

"Providing the Personal Touch" is more than a motto at UNCP-it is a way of life! We look forward to working with each and every student.

Sincerely,

Diane O. Jones, Ed.D.
Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
