The Photo Office is responsible for providing photo-imaging assistance, editorial event coverage and promotional image development for university related activities and needs.

Services Offered

Each week, the office has a mid-week staff meeting to plan upcoming events and coverage schedules for the following weeks. Photo requests for upcoming weeks should be made available in time for presentation and discussion at these meetings. Examples of photo coverage include the following:

  • News and Event Coverage - These assignments are handled through University Relations and because of media deadlines, may be given priority over all other requests. They can include on and off campus "documentary" news coverage of events related to the university, pre-event promotional photos or photos designed to accompany a special feature story. We also respond to requests made directly from outside media sources. Individuals with upcoming events or other ideas for news stories should first contact University and Community Relations. All news and feature photo assignments will come to us through that office and coordination of photo needs will be done with the person writing the story.
  • Advertising/Illustration/Art - These photos include a varied blend of campus scenes, feature illustrations and generic campus art developed for use in a wide variety of promotional and advertising literature and also in web page design. In planning your project, you may find the images you need in our growing archive of campus shots. If not, meet with us about your project idea and we can schedule a photo shoot to produce images more tailored to your specific needs.
  • Digital Services - For those requiring digital image files, we can scan your slide, negative or photograph, or shoot a new digital image. Please provide your own CD, floppy or zip disc or we can email to your office.

Photography Request Policy

For your photo shoot, we need:

  • shoot date and times and location
  • (good) description of photos needed and intended use
  • media needed: black & white - color - digital files
  • name & phone # of photoshoot coordinator (must be on scene at time of shoot)
  • "talent" of your choice must be provided

Notes

Please do not make requests on behalf of someone else. All communication needs to be with the person who actually needs the images. All photos and other items will be returned to the requesting party and they will be considered the party of responsibility. Photo requests should come to us by phone, allowing us to cross check for scheduling conflicts and request any additional information we feel we need. Please, no intercampus mail or emails (especially fwd, fwd, fwds). Information received through these channels will be considered as "heads up" information only. Requests that don't include needed "photo request" information (found above) will also be considered as "heads up" information only.

Due to time factors, budget and in some cases state regulations, we cannot take photographic requests for personal needs, for souvenirs, or for maintenance of group or individual scrapbooks.
