John Bowley Derieux Research Award
Anna Queen, a senior majoring in Biology and Chemistry, received 2nd place honors in the John Bowley Derieux Research Award at the 108th Annual Meeting of the NC Academy of Sciences for her poster titled, “Mapping the Motor Connections of the Subthalamic Nucleus in Parkinson Disease Using Deep Brain Stimulation.” This research was accomplished during the summer of 2010 in collaboration with a team at the Washington University School of Medicine. Collaborators/mentors included: Samer D. Tabbal, M.D.; Dawn Lintzenich, R.N.; Meghan Campbell, Ph.D.; Tamara Hershey, Ph.D.; and Joel S. Perlmutter, M.D.
