Business Visions MPA Student of the Year 2005: The faculty and staff of the MPA program are proud to announce that Lawrence Locklear has been chosen as the MPA student of the year. Lawrence will be honored at the Business Visions dinner on April 28, 2005 at 6:30 in the Regional Center. The award is sponsored by Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. Mr. Locklear has a 4.0 GPA and has also successfully run for public office. He is currently a member of the Lumbee Tribal Council. Lawrence has also been nominated to Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society and is forging an MPA student and alumni association. Lawrence Locklear’s local web address is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Pi Alpha Alpha Awards Dinner: This year Pi Alpha Alpha will hold it’s awards dinner Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at 6:30 in the Chancellors Dining Room. The Chancellor and the Provost will attend. This year we expect to induct alumni who have graduated before the Pi Alpha Alpha chapter started at UNCP as well as our current eligible students. The criteria for induction are a 3.7 GPA with at least 18 credit hours completed by December 2004. The following students and alumni will be inducted:

Professional Projects on the Web: We are pleased to announce that we have begun to place professional projects (theses) on the MPA website. Currently we have fifteen alumni papers posted (13% of all alumni papers). While we have all of the papers on file, written consent to place the papers on the web must be obtained from each alumnus. All alumni have been contacted by letter and to date only 13% have responded. All current students will have their project posted, as the consent form is now part of the project process. MPA and Emergency Management: Congratulations to Drs. Schneider and Barbee for their success in the Emergency Management concentration. There is much interest expressed by new and prospective students in this new MPA direction. MPA at Fort Bragg : The MPA program is part of an agreement reached by the University to present undergraduate and graduate programs at Fort Bragg. Programs are scheduled to begin Fall 2005. It is expected that the complete MPA program will be offered—on-site and on-line--to Active Duty and Reserve personnel, their dependents and Department of Defense staff.
MPA in China: This semester, at Spring graduation we expect to welcome the remainder of the CUMT cohort to UNCP. Students that we may expect are: Su Tonghui, Meng Quingli, Jin Fang, Xia Yu, Zhang Juyang.
