The annual report is officially known as the CRIME AWARENESS AND CAMPUS SECURTY ACT, signed into law in 1990. This federal law requires colleges and universities to produce and make available certain policy statements and statistics about campus crime. In 1999, this law was renamed the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Crime Statistics Act, or simply the Clery Act.

While we must update the statistics each year, the basic descriptive information which you will find in the 2001-2002 report is "required" in the Annual Report each year. This year, we are also required to provide an additional link to the NC Sexual Offender Registry. Information regarding any properly registered sex offenders in North Carolina, including home address and notice of employment or enrollment at a university or other institution of higher learning, may be found on the website for the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry.
