UNCP places record 74 athletes on PBC Honor Roll;
Braves improve in Commissioner's Cup Standings

Peach Belt Conference commissioner Marvin Vanover has
announced that a record 807 student-athletes have been placed on the
2005 PBC Presidential Honor Roll. Each of the student-athletes had to
maintain a 3.00 grade point average (on a 4.00 scale) for the full
2003-04 academic year to be recognized. UNC Pembroke placed a
school-record 74 athletes on the list, the third highest total in the
conference. Athletically, the Braves improved nearly 200 points in this
year's Commissioner's Cup Standings. Both announcements were made at
last week's PBC annual meetings held in Hilton Head, SC.

Kennesaw State and North Florida each completed their final year in the
PBC this season, as both schools will now make the transition to
Division I. KSU took home the Commissioner's Cup once again with a .791
rating. UNF was second at .720. Among the returning 10 member schools,
UNCP was eighth with a record .414 rating, finishing ahead of Lander
and Augusta State and just behind USC Aiken and Georgia College. Until
this season, UNCP had never recorded a rating higher than .276.

On the academic side, North Florida led all schools with 130
student-athletes placed on the honor roll. USC Aiken was second with
82, while UNCP (74), Lander (72) and USC Upstate (71) were next.
Francis Marion and GC&SU each had 67 students on the list, while
Kennesaw State (62), Columbus State (58), Augusta State (48), Armstrong
Atlantic State (42) and Clayton State (34) rounded out the list.
