Diamond Braves swept at Ga. College

The Black and Gold baseball squad traveled to Milledgeville, Ga., on March 10 and 11 to take on Peach Belt Conference foe Georgia College at John Kurtz Field.
Game OneIn an offensive matchup, the home standing Bobcats were able to record 13 hits on the way to defeating the Braves 8-5 in the series on March 10.
Senior Aaron Parnell led the Braves with a 2-for-4 performance from the plate, recording two RBIs. Parnell and junior outfielders Chase Grissom and Drew Alford all recorded a double apiece for the Braves in the loss.
Senior Brad Isom suffered his first defeat of the season after surrendering 10 hits and a pair of walks in 5-1/3 innings of work. Isom surrendered a pair of home runs to Georgia College, but also managed five strike outs.
Game twoThe Braves allowed a total of 11 runs in the seventh and eighth inning to give Georgia College a 12-9 victory in the second game on March 10.
Four different players from UNCP recorded multi-hit games, including freshman Zade Denton, who singled four times out of his five times at the plate and drove in a run. Freshman Jordan Edgerton recorded his first collegiate home run, hitting one over the left field fence in the fourth inning.
All-American Braxton Lewis blew his first save and suffered his first loss of the season after a single inning of work. Lewis surrendered five hits, two walks and allowed four earned runs from the opposition.
Game ThreeA late game rally was cut short, as the Braves lost the final game of the weekend series to Georgia College 3-2 on March 11. The Bobcats controlled the entire game after scoring one run in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
Senior Josh Haley led the Black and Gold with two singles, while four other Braves recorded a hit on the day.
Senior Alex Pearce was saddled with the loss after going eight innings and allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out six batters.
