Lady Braves grab W in final second

With 0.9 seconds remaining in the UNCP women's basketball team's Feb. 2 contest at PBC rival Francis Marion, junior Amelia Partin converted a three-point field goal to give the Lady Braves a 59- 56 victory on the road.
Partin's late game shot was her only converted field goal of the game, finishing with five points.
The Black and Gold were able to outshot the host team by making 40.4 percent of their field goal attempts, while holding Francis Marion to 34 percent. The Lady Braves also forced 23 turnovers while surrendering 19 turnovers of their own.
Freshman forward Jazmine Kemp dominated the paint with a career-high 12 points and 10 rebounds, recording the first double-double of her career. Kemp also contributed to the Lady Braves' defensive effort, recording two steals and blocked a shot.
Junior Courtney Bolton had a team-high 14 points and also collected six rebounds. Senior Domonique Washington finished with 13 points after playing all 40 minutes.
The Lady Patriots were led by guards Brittany Christian and Carmella Thompson who scored 17 and 10 points, respectively. Thompson also dished out seven assists to her teammates.
