Women win Carolinas track meet By Dan KellySports Editor The UNCP women won the season-ending Carolinas Track and Field Championship held on April 21 at the Belk Athletic Complex of the UNCP campus.
The five additional schools that competed in the competition were Methodist College, Morris College, Claflin University, Coker College and Voorhees College. Women’s results Tierra McIntosh won in the 800-meter, 1500-meter and high jump events to eventually earn the Most Valuable Performer award in the competition.The Braves Marquita Walters also heavily contributed with victories in both the shot put and discus along with a second-place finish in the javelin throw. The women’s other victories came from Tierra Sinclair in the 100-meter dash, Jamaisha Ward in the 400-meter hurdles and Tierra Carpenter in the javelin throw. Men’s results The Braves Antoine Stanley finished second in the 800-meter run and third in the 1500-meter run. Claflin University won the men’s competition and second place on the women’s side. |
